Confidentiality and Privacy of Information

We collect personal and health information to provide assessments, coaching, support, and ongoing care.

  • Your information is only accessed by Neurolinks Growth Centre practitioners and authorised personnel

  • Access is limited to what is necessary for your care and support

  • All information is stored securely and handled in accordance with New Zealand privacy laws

  • Your information is treated as confidential, except in specific situations outlined below

 

Situations Where Information May Be Disclosed

In most cases, your information will not be shared without your consent. However, there are situations where Neurolinks Growth Centre practitioners may be required to disclose information, with or without your permission:

  • Where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others

  • When required by law (e.g. court order or subpoena)

  • For invoicing or payment processing (limited information only)

  • To another health professional involved in your care (e.g. GP, specialist)

  • For professional supervision to ensure safe and effective practice

  • In exceptional circumstances (e.g. national emergencies)

  • When you have given written consent to share information

  • For limited administrative purposes (e.g. documentation support), under strict confidentiality

 

Purpose of the Practitioner–Client Relationship

Your relationship with your practitioner is professional and centred on your wellbeing, growth, and support.

During your time with us, you may:

  • Discuss your goals, challenges, and experiences

  • Share relevant personal or background information

  • Complete questionnaires or structured tools where appropriate

  • Develop a personalised plan tailored to your needs

If you feel the fit with your practitioner is not right, you are welcome to request a different practitioner at any time.

In some cases, the practitioner who completes an assessment may differ from the practitioner providing ongoing support.

 

Assessment Phase (Coaching / Therapeutic Support)

During the assessment phase, your practitioner will work with you to:

  • Understand your current concerns and priorities

  • Explore your background and context

  • Clarify your goals

  • Use appropriate tools or questionnaires where helpful

Following this phase, your practitioner may recommend a plan or approach aligned with your needs.

 

Support Phase

The support phase focuses on helping you make meaningful, sustainable progress.

Your practitioner will:

  • Work collaboratively with you

  • Use your goals as a guide for sessions

  • Adapt approaches to suit your needs and preferences

 

Information Sharing & Communication with Other Providers

To support safe, coordinated care, we may share relevant information with other professionals involved in your wellbeing (such as your GP or specialist).

This is consistent with:

  • Standard healthcare practice in Aotearoa New Zealand

  • The Privacy Act 2020

  • The Health Information Privacy Code 2020

If you prefer that your information is not shared, you can let your practitioner know in writing.

We will respect your preferences unless:

  • There is a significant safety concern, or

  • We are legally required to disclose information

 

How Your Information Is Stored

  • All client information is stored securely using trusted systems

  • Access is restricted to authorised personnel only

  • Information is only used for purposes directly related to your care

Neurolinks Growth Centre follows best-practice standards for data protection in line with New Zealand legal and ethical requirements.

 

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal or health information we hold about you

  • Request correction of your information

  • Understand how your information is being used

  • Discuss confidentiality and privacy with your practitioner

  • Request a different practitioner if needed
